Overview

Dropmute is designed with privacy at its core. All file conversion happens locally on your Mac. No files, conversion data, or personal information is collected, transmitted, or stored on any server.

Data We Collect

The Dropmute app does not collect personal information. Specifically:

• All file conversions run entirely on your device. Files never leave your Mac.
• Conversion history is stored locally and is never transmitted externally.
• The Dropmute app does not include any analytics or tracking.
• We do not require an account or login.

Our website (tinythings.app) uses the following analytics services to understand visitor traffic:

• Vercel Analytics — collects anonymous, aggregated visitor data (page views, referrers, country). See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
• Google Analytics (GA4) — collects usage data including pages visited, referral source, approximate location, device and browser type. See Google's Privacy Policy.

File Processing

Dropmute processes files entirely on your device using native macOS frameworks and a bundled Pandoc engine for document conversion. No files, file contents, or metadata are uploaded to any server. Converted files are saved to the output folder you choose.

Clipboard Access

Dropmute can read files or images from your clipboard when you use the paste feature (Cmd+V). This data is processed locally for conversion and is never transmitted externally.

License Verification

When you enter a license key, Dropmute communicates with our payment provider (Polar.sh) to verify your license. This transmits your license key and a machine identifier. No personal data or file content is shared during this process.

Software Updates

Dropmute checks for software updates using the Sparkle framework. This may transmit basic system information (macOS version, app version) to determine if an update is available. No personal data is collected during this process.

Cookies

The Dropmute app does not use cookies. Our website uses cookies only through Google Analytics (GA4) to distinguish unique visitors. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or adjusting your browser's cookie settings.

Data Retention

Local app data (conversion history, settings, favorites) is stored on your device until you delete it. Website analytics data is retained according to Google's and Vercel's standard retention policies.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data:

• App data: Since all data is stored locally on your Mac, you have full control — you can view or delete it at any time.
• Website analytics: You may opt out of Google Analytics using the opt-out add-on or by disabling cookies.
• California residents (CCPA/CPRA): We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
• EU/EEA residents (GDPR): Our legal basis for processing website analytics data is legitimate interest. You may exercise your data subject rights by contacting us.

Children's Privacy

Dropmute is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Singapore.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
